Real-time Weld Monitoring

The Sigma Six weld control provides complete weld data acquisition necessary for continuous statistical process control. Weld quality is maintained during the manufacturing process by real-time monitoring of weld parameters. An interactive checklist prompts the operator to perform various tasks at predetermined times with text and images. For example, after 1,000 welds, the checklist appears with instructions to dress the electrodes before continuing.
The control, which is easily expandable for future requirements, utilizes three (3) separate processors that operate and synchronize the functions of weld control, data monitoring and programmable sequence. Sciaky's WinWeld interface allows maximum flexibility for viewing, saving or printing weld data.

Data Logging and Monitoring

4. Graphs: Data can be collected during welding on factors such as current, voltage, set-down, etc. for graphical presentation on the control, or for downloading and analysis by off-line SPC software.

5. Run Screen: During welding, both the programmed and actual parameters for a given weld are displayed for the operator.

6. Monitor Screen: In addition to gathering data, limits can be developed for welding parameters such as initial resistance, peak current, or nugget expansion. These values are then compared to high and low limits developed for the applications and tolerance. Conditions can be set to trigger alarms to the operator or other corrective actions.
